You will need a valid photo ID and proof of your medical condition such as medical records, office visit summaries, prescription pill bottles that state your diagnosis by name, a letter from your doctor, etc.

A state-licensed medical marijuana doctor will examine you, review any medical documentation you are able to provide, and assess your medical history. Appointments are typically about 10-15 minutes. We will also maintain your patient records and provide follow-up care as needed.

Once you're certified by a medical marijuana doctor, you'll receive an email with a link that will allow you to apply online with the state as a medical patient. To apply with the state you'll need the following:

• Active certification issued by a state-licensed medical cannabis doctor
• Valid photo ID (such as driver's license, passport, US government-issued ID, tribal ID card, student ID card)
• Passport-style photo of yourself
• $75 application fee

You'll be able to access any state-licensed dispensary in South Dakota once you've received your medical card.

Yes. With South Dakota being an at-will state and there not currently being any legislation in place that protects medical marijuana patients in the workplace, medical cardholders can still be administered drug screenings and receive disciplinary action regarding the results of drug screenings. For this reason, we recommend making sure you are fully aware of your employer’s policy regarding drug screenings and medical marijuana before moving forward with the process.
