Have Questions About Massachusetts Medical Cannabis?
Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Certification Process
The certification process in Massachusetts is similar to many other medical states. Patients will need to be certified by a licensed medical marijuana doctor first in order to apply with the state for a medical card.
Schedule an appointment with a licensed medical marijuana doctor.
Speak with the doctor to find out if you qualify.
Obtain your electronic certification and apply with the state.
Get your electronic medical marijuana ID card and start purchasing at dispensaries!
The first step in getting your Massachusetts medical marijuana card is to be evaluated and certified by a state-licensed medical cannabis doctor.
It can sometimes be difficult for patients to find a doctor who will certify them. We are currently partnered with a clinic in Boston offering in-person evaluations, making the search for a physician easy for you.
If you believe that you have one of the qualifying medical conditions and have at least one type of proof, then you will most likely qualify. Our doctor can evaluate you, review any medical documentation you are able to provide, and issue your certification so that you can apply for your card.
After you’ve been approved by a Massachusetts medical marijuana doctor, your next step is to submit a medical cannabis patient application to the state. To apply, you’ll need:
· A medical marijuana certification from a licensed cannabis doctor.
· A valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID.
· A passport-style photo of yourself.
· The 4-digit PIN registration number (provided by the state via email).
Our doctor will enter your medical marijuana certification online. Once your certification is on file, you’ll receive an email from the state that includes your 4-digit pin registration number and instructions on how to submit your application. If your application is approved, you’ll receive a temporary version of your card that will allow you to immediately access dispensaries. You’ll then receive your physical card in the mail within about 7-10 business days. If you’re having trouble, the state has provided step-by-step instructions or you may reach them for application assistance at 833-869-6820.
